Nationals Ballpark Roadtrip

Hey there baseball fans. Gonna be headin to DC this summer for a midweek series vs. the mets and was looking for some tips on the DC metro area. Anyone with any suggestions on where to stay and eat? More importantly I was wondreing about the stadium layout and where someof you have sat and your opinions on those seats. Thanks in advance.

I've watched games from four different sections of this park now, and I also walked around a lot to check things out in different areas. I found the upper levels (300s and above) to be just too high and removed from the field. The Outfield Box (106) was fun, as it was the landing site for a couple HRs that day, and we razzed Willie Harris for losing his hat on every play. The RF Baseline Box (132) certainly wasn't bad, although I didn't quite feel that I was getting my money's worth for a $58 ticket. I might get tickets in the RF Mezzanine (223) again, but this area is only worth the price if you're in the sections nearest first base.

The 300 level behind home plate ($24, IIRC) was a pretty good place to sit. I probably would have preferred field level seats, but at more than $50, as spark said, it's probably not worth it. I think the 400 level tickets above where I was sitting were $18, so for that price differential, the 300 level tickets seemed like the best "bang for your buck" seats.

When I was there I stayed at the Comfort Inn in Landover Hills... not bad if you're looking for a cheap place to stay that's not too far from the stadium. Only about 10 minutes away from the RFK lot where I parked. But obviously where to stay depends a lot on your budget.

Yeah, I went to two of their series this year. Agaisnt the Braves in the home opener and vs the Cubs. And the seats that really stood out were the 1 behind 1st base. You'll get a great view, plus, its close to many food stands

Landover Hills? Wow, you're lucky to still be posting. For those not familiar with the area, I suggest that you don't stay in inner PG County (with a few exceptions) unless you are comfortable in places such as the Bronx, South Chicago, SC LA, Detroit or any other notorious high crime area. I am from PG and am familiar with the area and I wouldn't stay in Landover Hills. When the cast & crew from ABC's Home Makeover show stayed in the area they were mugged.

Washington is a great area, but like other big cities there are high crime areas.

The Marriott in Greenbelt (right off I-95) is near the Greenbelt Metro and is on the same line (Green) as Nats Park. The area is relatively safe although I wouldn't wander into the Springhill Lake apartments. I believe the hotel provides a shuttle to the Metro. The area is devoid of activity (office park) but if you are in town for a game it is a nice hotel. Visiting teams and acts performing at the Cap Centre stayed here before the Verizon (MCI) Center was built.

went down to the new nationals stadium last weekend. LOVED it. whenever i go down to dc i usually stay at the Radisson Hotel Reagan National Airport. its in crystal city which is 1 stop away from national airport. the hotel itself is like maybe a 3 block walk to the metro? really quiet neighborhood, really nice hotel. it can get expensive but if you search a few different websites and are flexible with your dates you can get a room for like $100 a night.
oh yeah and they have a rooftop pool with awesome views.
