The buildings to me look ugly and I don't like how that one sticks out above the crappy scoreboard. When I think of San Diego I think of water and mountains. I would have liked them to incorporate either of those 2 elements in the backdrop similar to Dodger Stadium or like in SF.
And can't the pets afford a better looking and bigger scoreboard??I see great things in baseball. It's our game - the American game.

They have the problem of everyone else built at this time, unless it was the first, retractable, or pnc there isn't anything remarkably different about it. I put this in the same category cbp, busch, Turner, and coors. All of which are better than the ones before but not different enough to make us oh and ah.
I just feel bad because they do have a lighter stone on the outside and utilize a lot more plants on the outside that we can't see from the seat pictures. The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time.

PETCO Park Tour
I took a tour of PETCO Park when I was in San Diego last week. There were only four of us, so I got to ask a lot of questions. Our tour guide was nice, albeit, a little bitter about the new management. He said they lowered his hours to under 40 hours a week so he would be part-time, thus not eligible for benefits. Anyway, here are some photos that I found nice. The ballpark seems like a cool place to watch a game. The disadvantages are similar to most mallparks around the league. I do like it better than NYS, for what it's worth.

If you've seen the Head & Shoulders commercial with Joe Mauer and Troy Polamalu, then you will recognize the above photo; it was filmed in the visitor's clubhouse at PETCO Park.sigpic

New ballpark logo on the side of the seats updated to match Petco's new corporate logo. Looks very similar to the secondary logo the team adopted this offseason which will appear on their away and alternate jerseys.

*-Steve Garvey, after leaving the Dodgers after the 1982 season and joining the Padres commented that the Dodgers uniforms were all-american (red, white and blue) and the Padres uniforms made him look like a taco.

I never realized how much petco looks has similar open features as you walk up to you like the jake and great american. I think its cool to have these type of stadiums for the open idea instead of some of the closed off brick stadiums. The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. Two questions:
- Is that PETA joke brick still there? ('Break Open Your Cold Ones! Toast The Padres! Enjoy This Championship Organization!' <-- hint: it's an acronym)
- Any progress on Petco Park getting a new scoreboard? It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shakes, the shakes become a warning. It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.

Regarding the scoreboard, it was supposed to go in this past offseason. But I guess it's being delayed again until next offseason (though I'd say the sooner the better). My guess is that the scoreboard issue is tied directly to the ownership issue we've seen the past several months with Jeff Moorad's group not getting approval to take majority control of the team.
