Bowl game was cancelled due to COVID. Field was setup:

Looks like they removed the seats along the 1B side. Honestly looks like a good fit. Shame it wasn't utilized.

Logistics. SDSU made the decision, with the City, to tear down the old Qualcomm Stadium kind of in haste thanks to Covid. The plan was for SDSU to play the 2020 and 2021 seasons at the Q while their new stadium was being built nextdoor. The Padres did not have the time, or really the desirability, to accommodate the Aztecs and make the necessary changes to Petco Park to host football in time for the 2020 season. While the Padres are more than happy to get the additional revenue from a football game played in the baseball offseason, I don't think they have the desirability to let a non-Power 5 football team tear up the baseball diamond in the final month of the baseball season.

To be honest, it sounds like even after Aztec Stadium is finished that the Holiday Bowl might stay at Petco Park. The Holiday Bowl and the city are banking on the game's new location adding to tourism and hype since it will now be downtown rather than out in Mission Valley.

Also, fromm the renderings, it looks like they will remove some rows of seating down the first base line, unless they were made retractable when the place was built, like with the Wrigley renovation.

AHHHH! Right. For some reason I forgot that demolition was very recent, and not like 2018-2019.

I'm so glad that they are going back to brown! It's a very unique look unlike their current blue/white uniforms that make them look like Dodger wannabes. Hopefully, they include the Swinging Friar as a sleeve patch, etc. That's another unique secondary logo that they have downplayed for some inexplicable reason in recent seasons.

Trevor Hoffman's statue was unveiled last weekend. The statue is in the Park at the Park behind the main scoreboard. If you look at it from behind, it looks as though the statue is winding up to throw a pitch to Tony Gwynn's statue which is on the opposite end of the Park at the Park right in the same line of sight.

Usually I hate the addition of new video boards. However, here they are just replacing an advertising panel on the existing RF ad board with a video screen. This screen will be useful for those sitting directly beneath the current LF board and those in the upper deck along the 3B side as well. The one time that I sat in the upper deck down the 3B side, my neck was killing me by the 3rd inning from having to crane it to see the video board in LF.
