the reason why it still looks so nice is because theyre still doing tours, and the Yankees offices haven't moved accross the street yet. I think the new park will be ready on time. So will Citi Field. I'd be really surprised if one of them, or both, weren't ready by opening day.

We then went down to the main level and walked to monument park. We entered the visiting club's bullpen to get to monument park. After everybody was through there I turned to the guy watching the rear of the tour group and some lady and said, "Hey can I get some dirt?" The woman flipped. "No, you can't have any dirt!!! Don't take any dirt or you'll be removed from the tour!!!" She turned to the tour guide pulling up the rear and said, "If he takes any dirt remove him!!!" I said to her, "I just asked if I can have some dirt. I did not question you when you said no. I'm not arguing with you. I just asked a question." She walked away all pissed off looking. I asked the tour guide I was with, "What's up with that?" He said she was having a bad day and that if I needed dirt he's selling some from the last game. NICE RIGHT!!!!Jimmy Dugan: Because there's no crying in baseball. THERE'S NO CRYING IN BASEBALL! No crying! (Tom Hanks, "A League of Their Own" (1992)

I suppose it's too late to suggest that the topic of Yankee Stadium Tours get its own thread...
Anyway, the latest news I've come across is that while the last scheduled date of tours is still Wednesday, November 12... well, let me cut-and-paste right from my source... the Yankees' very own website...
November 9th will be the last date to visit Monument Park. Starting on Monday, November 10th, the tour will include stops to the Press Box, Dugout, limited field accessibility, the Clubhouse (when available) and will last 45-55 minutes. Tours are held every day. Certain areas will not be available on the tours. All parts of the tour are subject to cancellation or change. Please help. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer last summer, and now I'm in a position where I need financial assistance. For the full story, please check out my GoFundMe campaign at https://gofund.me/3874ea2d. Thank you.

"Yankee Stadium Closing Ceremony"
first i have heard about this, haven't seen confirmation elsewhere:
There's going to be a "Yankee Stadium Closing Ceremony," though it would seem to us that's more like a euphemism meant to sound comforting like "putting it to sleep" rather than tearing it the freak down. A bunch of students are going to "remove dirt from the pitcher’s diamond and home plate and transfer it to the new stadium." The symbolic murder of Ye Olde Ball Park takes place on Saturday, November 8.
