That's a good picture... I should know because that's my photo.

(Oddjob, you're new here, at least in terms of number of posts, so you may be unaware that it's common courtesy to credit the original photographer when you post a picture you saw on Flickr or some other site.)

They've really expanded the scaffolding around the place. Photos to come... it may be a while but they're my photos so you know they'll be worth the wait. Roughly the area between Gate 4 and Gate 6 is the only area that does not have scaffolding, but from what I'm seeing it won't be long before the entire place is covered up.
Please help. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer last summer, and now I'm in a position where I need financial assistance. For the full story, please check out my GoFundMe campaign at https://gofund.me/3874ea2d. Thank you.

        • I meant from the aerial shots, I hadn't seen Gary's new pictures.

          That's a real shame.

Sorry Gary, its a picture of scaffolding on a building. Sorry that i didnt properly credit it on a public forum.

            • And wow at taking them down and putting them back up with your name plastered all over them. What was the purpose of this?

Heres one from flickr member msaia without horrible watermarks written across it.

It was his picture, he should have the right to be credited. Especially on a public forum. As a second rate ballpark "photographer" behind Gary of course , it pains me when I find one of my pictures either on a website or a forum. It's his work, don't get defensive about it.

It is credited, on his flickr page which the image posted here points to. It would be a different story if i dl'ed it to my hard drive then posted it here as an attachment.

He could just let it slide insted of calling people out on it pubicly. He could have PM'ed me privately instead of the rude statement in the thread. Whatever, theres more bsing and arguing here than there are demolition images anyway.

He posted it on a public website which enables easy sharing via copy & paste codes. If he wanted credit for his picture, he should have slapped the little watermark on before posting it. ...Or kept it on his computer until he was ready to share.

                    Exactly.

(Btw, shouldn't we be applauding Oddjob for digging up real, actual photographs of the stadium so that we can look and discuss Old Yankee Stadium's demolition rather than whatever nonsense (like this) fills in the gaps between actual updates?!)

                      Give us a break.
It's common courtesy, something you don't have. All he had to say was "this is from ______." Not too hard right?

And give you a break? Really? Having 3500 pictures, having them featured in magazines, and websites all over the place doesn't do anything for you? Please. If you wrote a song, and produced it, then someone posted it and didn't credit you, it would be fine? I really don't think so. Should Gary have not taken the issue publicly? Maybe. But he has a right to. When it is his work. And if you don't think it's work, then you provide something.

                      • Not only is it common courtesy, but it is also a standing rule of this entire Forum to properly ascribe sources that belong to others. It is a simple act to do so and should never be considered a hardship.

Get lost. It's a guy pressing a button and uploading the product onto a computer. I've done it, you've done it, and every thirteen year old girl in the country's done it. The fact that he's been published tells me that he should know better, didn't, and tried to make someone else look like the jerk.

As for the "Give us a break" comment, it was in regards to your suck up of a guy who posts pictures on a forum. With all due respect to all of you, we're all the same geek discussing and sharing a bunch of information with other geeks who are more interested in it than anyone else we know. To put people (or themselves) on pedestals for any reason let alone because they are better at geeking than we are is ridiculous.

And as far as the art and property thereof argument: someone designed Yankee Stadium, someone else built Yankee Stadium, and someone else owns Yankee Stadium. Were any of them credited by the guy who simply pointed and shooted? Where were their rights honored?

It's 2009, kids. Write your name on it or keep it to yourself if you don't want the world looking at it without your permission.

And finally, I have provided. On this very forum, as a matter of fact. And that which I have provided has been reused without my permission and I didn't mind at all. You know why? Because I provided to provide insight or information and was just happy that someone dug it enough to share with others. Because this is an internet messageboard that serves the single solitary purpose of sharing.

Now, please excuse me while I scrawl "JOHN" on the feet of my Star Wars figures before locking them in my closet so that the neighborhood kids don't come over and play with them.

                          • Regarding my post a few days ago about the demolition of the stadium, that is, the upper deck, i understand that NYC law does not permit explosives to be used, but it seems to me that variances can be applied for, or the city council can vote a limited exception if enginnes say they are necesasry. Not cure--I'm not a lawyer, but here is why i'm saying this.

The upper deck of RYS is severely cantilievered and is held in place by a ring of cables. The question is, how can these cables be safely severed? If each cable is severed without exlposives, I imagine people would have to be on the top of the stadium behind the upper deck to do it. so they cut 1, 2, 3, 4 cables (they are about 60 feet apart) at some point, sections of the upper deck start to collapse --with construction workers still up there?

On the other hand, if explosives of limited strength -just strong enough to snap a cable - were set at each cable and detonated remotely and simultaneously, the upoer deck and loge would be brought down with nobody nearby to be in danger, and then the bulldozers or whatever would do the rest.

I already read somewhere that they're going to take down the upper deck with jack posts supporting the deck for disassembling. Makes perfect sense when you think about it.
I see great things in baseball. It's our game - the American game.
