  • Just wondering here.
Seeing the park slowly gutted and having the outfield wall removed...

Would any of the fans in NYC have liked the idea of Yankee Stadium being renovated as the new (and once again) home of the Giants?
A way to save the stadium, take the Giants back to their roots and maybe save the huge chunk of money spent on the new football stadium? (The Jets having Giants Stadium all to themselves)
Without the need to accommodate baseball games the field could have been converted to a football full time.

    • Yankee Stadium as an NFL venue

It's probably too small for it to be a renovated into a 75-80k football venue complete with the required suites and retail space.

they owe the city park land. If they do that, where will the park land they owe the city be? And how much money did the Giants put into Tony Soprano Stadium? Don't they have to wait a certian amount of years to move out of there? Someone on here mentioned that once I remember.

As a huge Yankees and Giants fan, no. Tailgating is a great tradition, especially at a Giants game, and having to park in the garage would ruin one of the best parts of the Giants gameday experience.

          • The Football Giants's roots were originally at The Polo Grounds. They abandoned it in the mid 50s and played at Yankee stadium 56-73.

The Giants roots were in the Polo Grounds as they spent 31 seasons there while only 17 seasons at Yankee Stadium.

I'd be all for a football team moving to the old Stadium if they reconfigured it as long as that team would have been the Jets.

No way would they permanently renovate YANKEE stadium, and make it into the home of the giants, while still building a new home for the actual Yankees.

If saving money was really that much of an issue, they just wouldn't have built NYS in the first place. I know you're speaking purely hypothetical, but could you imagine how silly it would be to Move the Yanks out of THEIR home, and move the Giants in? The arguments of "Then why did the Yanks have to move out" would be even 10x louder than they are right now.
                  Ya Gotta Believe!

Yes, I'm a Flyers and Eagles fan, too.

This is really heartbreaking. I still can't belive it - my first baseball game in 1961 at YS with my Dad and brother & sister.

Most overrated "great catch" in baseball. He didn't jump into the stands to make the catch as everyone seems to want to remember it. He went over and made the catch, and happened to fall over the wall afterward. A pop-foul and a trip-up is not the stuff of great catches. Now, Ron Swoboda in the '69 Series...completely airborn and full extension (and remembering to point his toes for those all important style points!)... that's a great catch!

He landed in the lap of a guy who went to my college back in the 70's "The Bonz". All I really remember was the blood and bruise. The catch, you expected that from Jeter anyway. Right?
