Its actually surprising how little attention the media is paying to this. When Shea was coming down, I was quoted in the Times and Daily News. Chris S. was on CBS880AM a few times I think...
Maybe more journalists are Mets fans or simply don't want to venture into the Bronx...

      For the record:

      1. Titanic
      2. WTC
      3. JFK

The demolition of Yankee Stadium is like none of these things.

      Let's keep things in perpective.

I think the media just picked up on the fact there was a bunch of gawker traffic at Shea. Plus Shea/Citi is in the middle of a pretty open space, pretty easy to notice that people are gawking and taking pictures, as opposed to YS which is in a denser area. Hard to tell if people are doing what they did at Shea or just the general foot traffic in the area.

          Eh, just my .02 anyway.

I apologize for the quality and angle as I turned the cell phone sideways to capture the widest angle. Anyone know how I can turn it around let me know.

i agree, It seems there was more coverage when Shea was coming down and more gatherings and just more photographers sneaking a pic. Maybe cause of where Shea was made it alot easier to get to and being in an empty parking lot made it easier as well. Im fascinated by these demolitions , yet to my dissappointment, i think there was more interesting things uncovered at Shea then at Yankee stadium. I just thought there would be more interesting stuff uncovered at Yankee Stadium, but so far nothing earth shattering besides some Cat walk debates.. Otherwise great photos from all and thanks fo ryour time and effort..

I haven't seen the Demolition of Yankee Stadium compared to Pearl Harbor in this thread... yet.

If it has, it most certainly belongs at the top of the list.

If Gate 2 comes down in the early morning without warning, the collection of absurd simililarities will grow for sure.

Top two in my book, anyway.

Assuming "WTC" meant 9/11 (& not the 1993 bombing), I'd push that to the top of the list, as I personally wasn't around during Pearl Harbor.

The Titanic?? C'mon! That was an accident with the loss of over 1500 lives, ..... not in the same league as Pearl Harbor, nor 9/11. Not even CLOSE!

Sometimes national tragedy isn't about the lives lost but the devestation it causes to so many people. So the Oklahoma City bombings shouldn't be overlooked - but this is beside the point. Yankee Stadium's demise will not kill anybody and will not tear lives apart.

do you have to pay the subway fare and go through the turn styles to access this area?
I was thinking about going this weekend to take some shots

Finally, moving pictures of the demo! Outstanding work. I didn't get the "turn your head to the right..." at first. Love it!
