How would you propose to support the extended upper deck then?

They could have covered it up, make it like a flat underside, or straight wall similar to OYS

RYS to NYS: "Obi-Lonn never told you what happened to your father."

NYS: "He told me enough. He told me you killed him - in the 1970s!!"

RYS: "No, I am your father..."

NYS: "No, it's not true, that's impossible!!!!"

RYS: "Look beyond my respirator pods and my upper crown; you know it to be true!

Cosmetic panels with faux arch inlays to echo the arched windows might work, with openings for the cables to pass through. Couldn't see the cables much from the street, so the holes wouldn't matter.

I'd have at least covered it with something more attractive or ornamental, giving it a tiered wedding-cake appearance like OYS, if possible. How I'd perform this magic, I don't know...I'd leave that for the experts who probably worked on similarly supported upper decks but made the exterior more attractive.

Regardless of the how's or why's (which are legitimate), it was one of the main factors in the defacing of the most beautiful stadium ever built. The elimination of the frieze, destroying Gate 4, the escalator pods and the upper deck exterior destroyed the beauty of OYS. I know it sounds silly, but it's like painting a party hat on the top of Mona Lisa's head and a party horn in her mouth and then insisting that it's "Still the Mona Lisa...her original, beautiful eyes and ears still remain.." I call that denial.

Even if the pod aside Gate 2 remained as was?

Yes, agree 100%. In every photo or TV broadcast showing the lights at NYS, they seem to be pointing in all different directions, and it looks terrible. I know you will say they are pointing at different parts of the field, but why didn't RYS have any problems having the nice, uniform band of lights? It seems like the lights at NYS are cheap and plastic looking, like the frieze.

Judging by the angle and phase of the Moon that picture was taken during extra extra innings! Nice.

I did not like the original top of OYS. Like I said, I do like the stringers and that we can see the upper deck spilling out of the exterior of the stadium.

That's a very nice photo. Although it was criminal that they removed the frieze in the 1970's my problem with RYS lies more with the exterior. The upper deck of RYS was fascinating in its steepness and the sea of fans, BUT it was always missing something that was always associated with Yankee Stadium - the frieze. My father wasn't very fussy when it came to RYS, but he said that's the one facet of the original Yankee Stadium that he missed. He said that without the frieze, the interior looked like many other stadiums, that it lost its most distinguishable, identifiable feature - that plus the new field dimensions.

I can only go by photos, and without the support columns and frieze, Yankee Stadium just wasn't the same-it was more a defaced impostor, as my new signature says. But again, to me, the biggest crime is what they did to the exterior.

                              • I'd say there's a really good chance the final wall gets pulled down tomorrow or Friday morning the latest considering there's only a small piece left and the Yankees come home for a homestand on Friday and I'm sure they want to finish things up before then
