#2. Thats what people have to understand, with these new ballparks, and in particuliar the new ones in NY, HOK is completely trying to change or alter how you view a game.
If you go back to your memory bank, walking through the concourses at old YS was never a big deal. You took a piss, got your food, and then it was off to see the "game". It wasn't even until the late 90s they added audio to concourses so people could hear the games. I'm a Mets fan, and to this day I still remember my first ever game back in the early 80s. I've never seen a field more beaurtiful than the one that popped in my view that warm Saturday afternoon, not ever.
#3. People will claim that left field is the same, but I could not agree more. The right field porch really looks like a little league field. It could be the eye doing tricks since the fence at old YS was a good 2 or 3 ft higher and the loge and upper deck hung out further which made it possibly looker farther. If you're a lefty with even relative power there is no way you can't that wall.

That was your point in all of this???
LMAO!!!
Look, there is no way anybody here is going to tell me that the renovation during the 1970's did NOT destroy the original beauty of OYS...
NOBODY!!!

It's amazing..
It's amazing how NYS resembles OYS so much more than RYS does...
Especially when NYS is a new and completely different building, and RYS and OYS are the same building...
GO FIGURE!!!!

That is so gorgeous, I grew up going there in the Mantle days, boy was that great. Its so tragic that its gone now. I still cant believe the city couldnt leave a small part of it standing in the new park. Oh well, they cant take my memories away from me.
Check out this great model i have of the scoreboard, its about 15" long by 13" high, really looks great in my sports room, that was such a great scoreboard!!
I AM SO THANKFUL FOR BEING BORN IN NEW YORK AND FOR BEING A FAN OF ALL NEW YORK SPORTS TEAMS

And listen, I am NOT telling you that the renovation during the 1970's did NOT destroy the original beauty of OYS. I am simply saying that RYS was the same building as OYS (albeit looked a little different because of ignorance), and had some of the exact same reference points. RYS felt a lot more like Yankee Stadium than the Elvis Impersonator across the street ever will.sigpic

Yeah, But look at how the upper deck swings away from the field in the new ballpark, and how the upper deck, even in the renovated stadium still hung right on top of the field practically. I sat in the upper deck at least 3 games last year, and the experience wasn't quite the same. Although the replica facade was nice all the way up at the top seats, as it gave you the feel of the old ballpark prior to the renovation. But I felt I was further away from the field. The original stadium was about the game. The new stadium is about the amenities. It'll take a few years to get use to the new joint, and for it to build a character of its own. The stupid bathtub on the field level has to go though. It ruins the look of the field level altogether. Seats should be a continuous run from the field up to the isle way. I don't know which genius had this idea........

Only similarity is the frieze is on the roof.
Differences:
Not as steep upper deck.
Split upper deck
Bowl seating arrangement
no overhang in NYS
Technically, a two level stadium vs three level in OYS.
Big ass scoreboard that relates to Renovated OYS then Pre-Renovation
Frieze isn't as imposing with the bowl setup.
Pre-Renovated OYS vs Renovated OYS
Smaller roof, but still there is a roof.
Wrap around lights. Which I like better then the old ones.
Same upper deck. Extended and the portals moved up, but it is the same upper deck none the less.....
Upper deck still overhangs the loge sections.
Still a stacked level setup
Still a three level stadium
Similar bleachers. More closely related to pre-renovation then NYS is.
Still the same steep grade with the extension giving it a more imposing feel.
Differences:
Frieze is concrete and is in the outfield.
Different scoreboard.
No steel columns.
Conclusion:
Renovated OYS is more closely related to Pre-Renovated OYS then NYS is. Have to remember, NYS interior was setup to replicate the Renovated OYS looks. The frieze on the roof is the only thing that is taken from Pre-Renovation.
