  • The 77% larger is telling. The screen I assume will use up the entire structure. Usually the structure is designed for the wind load on the sign as that's more stressful than the dead load weight on the sign or screen. With the existing scoreboard there were a few static signs off to the right but they had gaps between. I'm guessing the structure was designed for the full surface area being used and this scoreboard screen now utilizing the full structure.

It's amazing now when you go to these stadiums how the light from the scoreboard is more powerful than the lights for the field at times. It's like a kid sitting infront of a tv at night but on a much larger scale now.

LEDs have totally changed the world on so many levels.

      • It's the trend now - HUGE videoboards that span almost the entire outfield seating area.

I can't wait until there's a 200,000 square foot videoboard going from pole to pole.

All for the "fan experience" SMH

Why are they tearing out seats?

              • Saw that video (Philly Captain - Philadelphia Water Ice Trade Show at the Stadium).

The seats were removed every other section. But they appear to be stored in the adjacent section of seats. I didn't see anything about seat upgrades. I'm assuming either they were removed to just clean the concrete better or the concrete is being repaired and repainted with the seats being re-installed when done.

I’ve seen this done in previous off-seasons and assumed they were doing it to clean the concrete. If they were replacing them, you’d be sure that the Phillies would be selling the old ones!

                  • Very very cool video from The Philly Captain showing the new letters of Citizens Bank Park (replaced the neon with LED) going up and you can see the P from the Phillies sign chilling in the parking lot.
