This is the former home of the Los Angeles/California Angels Spring Traning home in Palm Springs, then known as Angel Stadium. It also was the home of the Palm Springs Angels of the Class A California League, now the Lake Elsinore Storm now a Padres Organizantion team after they switched Rancho Cucamonga with the Angels.

Palm Springs Stadium / Angel Stadium (Palm Springs)
I was in Palm Springs on Friday and was fortunate enough to get into the Angels old clubhouse... VERY spartan to say the least.. It still looks the same as when the Angels used it for spring training.
You can see the 100 other photos I took here... http://ballparks.phanfare.com/5516455#imageID=153057743DSC_2765.JPGIt is 9:46 p.m.
Vin Scully with the call: Two and 2 to Harvey Kuenn, one strike away. Sandy into his windup, here's the pitch.....
Swung on and missed, a perfect game!!

I love how the park backs up to the mountains.
IIRC, it was the last spring training park not located in either Florida or Arizona. Amazing that only 20 years ago, the Angels still played there.

Thanks!... yeah I caught many a spring training game there.. and one in Yuma Arizona. I had always wondered about the clubhouse in Palm Springs. Luckily, there was someone at the stadium/polo grounds field, who let me inside. The clubhouse was bare bones. Players today would pitch a fit with that situation....It is 9:46 p.m.

I have many great memories attending spring training games there when I was a kid. Got Nolan Ryan's autograph in 1975...just a couple of months before seeing him throw his 4th no-hitter in Anaheim. Also got Dick Enberg's autograph in the parking lot one time...he was there chatting with Bob Uecker, who was very friendly as well. Used to snap a lot of photos, too, including one of Harvey Kuenn coaching first base...I kept pestering him to look over so I could take his picture...he finally did, with his trademark chew of tobacco visible from his cheek.
Lots of good times for sure. I was actually in Palm Springs this past weekend visiting my mom...one of these days I'm going to swing by the old ballpark and take a look around.

I remember when the Angels trained part time in PS, they would only do the tv games from there... that was back in the day with the old halo CA hat.. I remember the cf camera shot towards home plate, showing Mt. San Jacinto, sometimes with snow.... Luckily growing up in Orange County, Palm Springs was about an hour and a half away. As opposed to 350 miles to Phoenix.....It is 9:46 p.m.
