  • Opinion on Creatine

Just wondering how the perception of creatine has come since 5 years ago...

Poll should read something more along the lines of 'is creatine safe and useful/effective'

    Support your opinion pleeeeease.

Its safe and works great for me. I endorse a company called Advocare. They have a large range of products, but I use the Athletic line and its in a few of the products they have creatine. I've never had a single problem with it.

Dick Mills' site has the following post by a supposed pharmaceutical industry insider questioning the value of ingesting creatine supplements.

        http://www.pitching.com/article_3.php

It amazes me how, in the last two years, Mills has jumped on the science bandwagon to the point that he'll accept as established scientific fact an anonymous post by a self-described authority and pass it along for others with his apparent blessing.
sigpicIt's not whether you fall -- everyone does -- but how you come out of the fall that counts.

Do you know what creatine does..the organ system that uses it , how it is broken down and how it is eliminated from the body, what are the natural sources of it, and why we would be deficient or need additional amounts supplimented?

              Better start there

Are you trying to make a point or express an opinion, or are you just asking questions when I asked for opinions?

......... creatine is produced by the kidneys and liver and the majority travels through the blood stream to muscles where it is turned into creatine phosphate. creatine phosphate is used as energy for short anaerobic actions and also helps replenish adenosine triphosphate reserves by rebuilding atp from adp, which provide power for muscles

creatine can also help prevent lactic acid buildup, and lactic acid also blocks the reproduction of atp

                you piss out excess creatine

foods like meat poultry and fish are rich in creatine

I noticed an evolution of sorts at the World Baseball Convention this year. Discussions with the pro coaches seemed to be more resembling an academic discussion than a locker room chat. I heard more "Well, according to a study conducted at..." than "Well I've been at this for 20 years and ..."

                  I find it refreshing...
Those that don't have the science seem to now lag... or call in anonymously.

Jake, most coaches are ignorant on the issue of supplements

                    REALLY ignorant.
