  • The Best videos/books

I am looking for your opinons on the best videos/books for hitting, pitching, and catching. Obviously I mean a video/book for each separate skill. Not one book for all 3. I value your opinions on here and look forward to what you think.

Coach we have discussed this many times over the past year. You may want to do a search and see what the other threads have come up with. As far as catching materials go -there's only one - Dave Weaver's from the New England Catcher's Clinic
"He who dares to teach, must never cease to learn."
      - John Cotton Dana (1856–1929) - Offered to many by L. Olson - Iowa (Teacher)

Here are the videos we use religiously with our players in our program:

Hitting - Mike Epstein, John Cohen, and John Mallee
Pitching - Tom House, Jerry Weinstein, Alan Jaeger, and a series of tapes from U of Miami
Catching - Jerry Weinstein and Tom Griffin (Probably my 2 favorite DVD's)
Infield - Jack Leggett and Danny Hall

As far books I like anything from the ABCA and the Ron Polk Baseball Playbook.

              Hitting Video: Steve Englishbey
You may also want to look into SETPRO stuff for pitching materials. I've heard they are the best, if you can get them.
tipsfromthecoach.com has pretty good videos on coaching.

John Mallee is a hitting coordinator in the Marlins organization and Cohen is the head baseball coach at U. of Kentucky.

Search google for them and you will probably find a few links.

                          Reference Material

                          Pitching:

Chris McCoy =www.pitchsmarter.com (recommend for younger players or starting coaches). This dvd helped me alot when I was starting to teach my son how to pitch
Ron Wolforth = entire series of his Pitching DVDs
Jeremy Reidy = www.freedommechanics.com (recommend for younger players)
Tom House = only DVD I recommend is his pitching mechanics DVD

                          Hitting:
Steve Englishbey = all his hitting DVDs (best hitting material available)

                          I also use:

for a fee of approx. $50 a year, you have access to their entire baseball DVD library which includes roughly about 50 dvds. All topics are covered including umpiring, nutrition, infield, outfield, pitching, coaching, catching, etc.
