Off season has begun. He's in the cages 5 days a week, weight lift twice a week, not a lot of instruction. Once in awhile a coach will give him a tip or two. He uses a 32 inch wood bat thinking it will make him stronger. I got a chance to see him for the last 5 mins and in general it looked like the bat was too heavy for him. Dont mind this much as long as his swing doesn't fall apart. Usually I post and ask for feedback then see if it matches my thinking. This time I'm gonna try putting my thoughts out there to see if others agree or not.
He still seems very upper body oriented, doesn't engage his rear hip to drive the swing. Still pulling his shoulders to power the swing. Plops his front foot down, I'd rather see him drive into that front leg a little more. Would like to see more tilt, more "sat." Wouldnt mind if he had a wider base when swinging.
Agree or disagree?
