hey guys, I hit really well against lefties, im a RHH, although there are no lefties in my district, I can pick up the ball better and its just easier to hit off of them, So would it make sense if I switch hit that I could hit righties better? if I develop the left side? I have a personal pitcher so I could take a few hundred cuts a day if needed what could i do to be a switch hitter?

When I read some of your posts I get the impression you would rather work on a little bit of everything than excelling in certain facets of the game. Are you starting on varsity yet? Are you the best righthanded hitter you can be?

        jamesh23,

Put TG Coach on the ignore list like I did you won't have read his drivel unless another poster quotes him like you did.

All posters, please do not quote TG Coach as he is less than truthful in his portrayal of his past, present and future.

It's not an insult. From your posts I get the perception you lack focus.

I agree with TG here... you keep thinking about this and thinking about that... do something with what you got.

Anyway, don't consider switch hitting until the offseason. Don't go through that at the beginning (during tryouts) of the season!

Oh, go over the the big news thread and tell me how practice went

I won't tell anyone what to do. I'm not a troll. If you want to read a trolls posts go ahead. It's a mentally weak and insecure person who follows a poster around a board harassing him and telling others to put him on ignore. I doubt you'll get much admiration with your tack. Are you a kid or a very immature, insecure adult? You don't have to answer. Keep us guessing. Now I'll go back to ignoring you without placing you on ignore or telling others what to do.

ha ha (sarcastic laugh) anyway yea I have been updating in your thread practice is going good... I dont lack focus I may come off like that over the internet I have been talking about doing this or that but in all honesty I have just been hitting and practicing rotational mechanics, I have also been working on my pitching mechanics and learning a curveball and changeup... I have also been working out and I hope when we start hitting it pays off.

Also, I cam switch hit. Coaches ask me if I want to. I decided not too. I like hitting right handed.

Also, you can't just learn to switch hit. I am lucky that I can hit the ball left handed, let alone hit well. Its an god given skill that you cannot really teach.

Dude, his advice is still correct. Don't openly trash him.

He's a realist. Take it or leave it.

Also, never block anyone. He has made many many posts that I have saved before. He has been around the game for many years. He just has a different view of things. Just the fact that he is helping you (commenting/ answering questions) shows me that he cares. He may not appear that way all the time, but its true.

Just think... you think you are misunderstood through the internet... imagine how he feels!

Switch hitting is the hardest thing to do in the game. I was born a natural lefty but my father switched me to a righty. My freshman year of college I tried to switch hit because I felt I could do it. I kept doing it and my average started to decline b/c all I saw was righties. I was a better righty but never got saw that many lefties. I ended batting high .200's that year. I batted .225 from the left side. The next year I batted just right handed and hit .314. The only problem is my power numbers went down a little. I had a power swing left handed but couldn't hit for average. It was hard for me to do and I would only advise it if you've been switch hitting since you were little. My advise for you would be learn to hit righties. When hitting off the machine, aim the machine to the angle a righties ball would come across the plate which would be sweeping away from you. Also set it up to throw the ball straight but inside. You work at that and you'll be able to hit the righty in no time.

Actually, this is very sound advice. Before becoming a switch hitter, become the best right handed hitter at your school. My son, a right handed hitter seems to own lefty pitchers. He used to hit from both sides growing up, but he decided to become a right handed batter. A couple of reasons that he should have stuck with batting left handed are that he is very fast and he is left footed which could drop his 4 second time home to 1st to under 4 seconds. But as a right hander he very rarely strikes out.

Coaches do take issue with mediocre switch hitters. I've seen a high school player benched because he decided to become a switch hitter.
