Help with Little League Infield Throwing

Next time he's throwing, pay attention to his shoulders. His shoulders should be level with the ground. A lot of kids tend to drop the back shoulder when they throw, which causes the ball to sail. It could be a bad habit he picked up when playing outfield.

I would add to make sure his head stays level always looking at the target rather than arching his back and looking up.

You know, I have been reading these post for a long time and really appreciate some of the comments from many different posters but I haven't ask any questions about helping my son because of the way some of you trash and twist so many peoples coments lately.
My son loves to play and I love to spend time with him. Why can't you guys simply answer a question without makeing dads that work with their kid feel stupid, or let someone else reply.
We simply play rec ball and I simply want to help him throw more accurately. I could have said I'm MAKING him try out for a number of competitive traveling teams and don't let him have a life because baseball at his age if far more important than haveing a life with friends etc...then you would have had a reason to ridicule me....but we just play rec ball with a bunch of his friends and have fun(but like to win too). soory for the rant Jake.... Love the book....
BTW: Vacation we went to Disney then Silver Dollary city (maybe I'm dad of the year after all) and ALstar was just one weekend tournament before the season was over.

I wasn't breaking everything down in 8U and my son didn't play 7U all-stars, whatever that is.

At 8 and 9 we went of vacation instead of AS. I think he had more fun than he would have in AS.

My son is eight and is moving in to the infield this year at SS. We play 8U pitching machine. He has been OF for a few years and played some catcher last year with the all-star team.
His fielding is really getting good IMHO but he is having problems throwing to first. When he fires it to first he is constanly throwing high just over the first basemans head. Last night at practice I noticed he was taking a little of the throw and hitting his taget fine but basically putting an arch on the throw.
I guess my question is: Does anyone have some advise on how I can help him? Is it as simple as he is just letting go of the ball to soon? or not seeing his target? Confidence? Are there drills I should do with him or something I should do while we are playing catch together that would help him on the field?
