  • some elbow pain...

so sometimes i get this pain in the back of my elbow more towards my tricep. ive had this pain before but it came back on monday after lifting. monday was a chest, bicep, and forearm day so could this be why i have the pain, not throwing?

i threw a light bullpen yesterday and didnt have any problems at all. but i get slight discomfort when i fully extend my arm, and then contract it again.

in the past two weaks i had some elbow pains when throwing just because ive been throwing more from longer distances as our indoor workouts have started up. ive been throwing at perfect game for a few months but at most im throwing 90 feet because there just isnt enough space to throw in there. this elbow pain has pretty much gone away, but i just have that discomfort in the back after i lifted monday.

Throwing longer distances should not be a cause to have elbow pain. It is never a good thing.

Assuming your mechanics are fine (do you show the ball to cf when throwing?)... you probably are throwing too soon too fast. I had this problem too. I got a elbow brace thing (... forget what its called now!)... I got one for tennis elbow problems. I got this one, because since I knew nothing was serious (and I was correct), I got this one because it maintains the heat. It keeps your elbow warm, which will help your elbow heal/ recover. Shut it down for the next couple of days if you have to too. Get it healed up, then slowly start to get back into things. The reason why you have pain, is because of the change from 90ft to real throwing. You need to stretch out your arm. It is vital.

Hope you get better... good luck!

my coach said it might because im not using enough of my hips.

i think its primarily from lifting. thats what my dad thought when i had this kind of pain before. i might be doing some curls too carelessly.

i really doubt its because im not warm to throw, we get a good amount of running/stretching in at the beginning of practice.

the pain got worse today when i was catching a bullpen for an hour. the problem doesnt prevent me from getting good strong throws, its just that some little things aggreavate it. sometimes i feel it after my throws, like when my arm begins to stop. which is another reason why i dont think its throwing related, but im not sure.

I guess you misunderstood what I said... it's not about warming up... its about now throwing this much. It's definateley an over use injury. Stop... see a doctor and make sure nothing is bad... do not throw again until you see a doctor.

i was lifting today, took my nitric oxide and had absolutely no pain. getting some good blood flow almost eliminates the pain but im just wondering why im having the pain. i guess im looking for those who are experienced in the strength field to say if its something theyve seen before caused by lifting.

when i had this pain a few months ago, it was worse. so i got some good running in for a couple of days, had some compression on it, iced it once in a while, and the pain just went away. now its back.

it has to be over use, but is it mostly caused by lifting? should i not put work my arms as much right now while im getting my arm up to season strength? thats what im looking for.

Curls are a waste of time for the most part.

Post your WHOLE lifting workout. Sets, reps, exercises, workouts per week and we can give you more help.

I would see a doctor. If you are lifting improperly or over-doing it, then that could be the cause. Otherwise, it most likely is not the lifting but something you are or aren't doing in your warm-up or throwing mechanics. Without all of the information and an in-person evaluation, no one can give you an accurate evaluation over the internet--even a doctor.....

my point is if he posts his w/o there might be something glaring. Heck he might be doing 10 sets of skull crushers 3x/week lol.

I agree fully with your above response.

But I feel like I should start a quack web site up for the fast fix. Could make some fast money on it at the beginning of the season.
