  • update on my situation with the coach

after a few days of debate with my wife and my son and giving it a week before i did anything to see if what my son said to the coaches worked. i ended up stepping in and talking to the coach. i expressed my concern and told him the brief history of my son's pitching style and mechanics. he was very nice about it all and listened to what i had to say. in the end he agreed with what i was saying and with my request shut my son down for a week so that my son's elbow could rest.

with no throwing and just running and strech work and helping coach with infield drills and just sitting around at times at practice and charting the games and keeping up with pitch counts. (and boy did my son and wife hate me for that week)

it paid off. my son came in and pitched 1 inning 3 up 3 down 12 pitches and no pain in his elbow. the next game(3 days later) my son was back as the starting pitcher and threw a 1 hit complete game shutout. the mercy rule was in volked since it was 10-0 at the end of 4 inning. his total pitches for the 4 innings was 42 total and no walks . the coach told him that he was glad that he was back and that he did a great job tonite and to not change a thing.

the worst of it all this was the game i decided to skipp and not take off from work because i thought my son would not pitch. due to a tournment this weekend. i hate that i missed my son's first complete game shut out and on top of it a 1 hitter and on top of it i have to quit smoking now due to a lost bet with my son.

Swisa, good news - just remember however, rest will do little for bad techniques when considering arm safety.

jake my son went back to his side arm slot and is not having any pain at all i think and i stress i think it was from the coaches trying to move him to a high 3/4 slot and it was uncomfortable for him
