  • I need help

I'm a sophomore in high school and I'm our cleanup hitter and 3rd baseman. Just a few games into the season and I have yet to reach base on a hit. I've had two errors, a fielders choice and 2 walks. But as far as hitting goes I'm just not getting it done.

Ive only struck out once, in my 12 at bats. And the defense has gotten two diving plays off me, and one was a linedrive right back to the pitcher. But other than that its been routine plays all over the field. What do i do to just get this hits to fall? I mean shoot.

Then, my shoulder is starting to hurt as I reach back for a throw. I cant pull my arm back far enough so i have to throw the ball like a football which takes off a lot of the speed.

What should I do about these problems?

Several items - first I would recommend you post both a clip of your swing and a clip of you throwing. Offering advice without seeing either may not be especially helpful.

Your hitting sounds indicative of someone taught linear versus rotational techniques - just a real stab here. Does your coach teach hit the ball down?

Throwing - if it hurts don't do it. Very typical problem. Usually indicative of bad throwing techniques.

My shoulder is hurting right on the outside. Its sort of by my rotator cuff, but it isnt that serious. Ive taken about a 4 day break from throwing and it doesnt hurt as bad.

Yes, my coach tells me to get the top half of the ball. Not necessarily down though. I just do that naturally. I'll try and get a video soon.
