  • Grain on wood bats

I notice the grain of wood bats vary significantly. Whats a good grain or bad one? Where on the grain are we suppose to make contact? Pictures would be very helpful I think.

20 inches of straight grain from the knob is what you are looking for. Anymore then that you will have to pay for. Most bats you see retail are painted for a reason. As for contact do not hit it were the label is hit it on the side.
Imagine 10 boards 1/8 inch think piled one on top of each other how flexible that would be maybe even break a few boards, now turn them on the side and you could put 10,000 pounds of pressure and you wouldnt break them. I tried my best to explain but I am a little tired!!
