alright so currently im 5'9" 160lbs. I play a little bit of 3rd base on varsity. I can hit pretty good and I have warning track power lol. I usually hit liners with a few grounders and popups. anyway im slow... really slow I have people who are 260lbs on my team who are as fast or faster than me. I have always been slow all my life. My arm is pretty good but pitching I only throw low 70's. what position for me would fit me the best that maybe I could play
D2 or D1 baseball? thats my goal is to play baseball and major in sports medicine in college thanks... also I can stop grounders in practice, I field about 97% but in a game I choke, just yesterday I missed 3 ground balls and made a bad throw. please help me...

You may want to focus on making the high school varsity before thinking about playing D1 or D2 in college. The reality is you will be fortuante to play D3. You need to improve your game and your mental outlook. Whether you like it or not I'll remind you of what I told you before. You seem to be looking for cure of the week rather than focusing on improving your basic skills. There aren't any shortcuts. There's only hard work.

You might want to look into speed and agility training to maximize your athleticsm and speed. You may want to look into a pitching coach to optimize your pitching mechanics. You may want to look into strength training. But stop looking for the cure of the week and start on a long term plan. I believe you're a soph. You have two more years to impress. It only takes being in front of the right person once on the right day.

Start on your plan. After you improve your skills, ask next year how to make yourself visible.

One more question. Have you ever seen a D1 or D2 game live to get a feel for the speed of the game?

I totally agree with TG... I play D3 baseball and just the speed of that is so much more than my high school baseball. You really need to work on the basics. Coaches at all levels are looking for solid players at every position. Find a position you are most comfortable with, become solid at every aspect of that position and coaches will pick you up no matter what the position. You can't field 97% and choke in the game and expect to play anywhere. Don't try to reach your goal of playing d2 and d1 baseball by trying to sneak your way in... reach your goal by playing so solid at the varsity level in highschool that coaches come find you.

Stick with your studies = That's something you can control. If you look at the better college programs the coaches are looking for big, strong, fast... then talent. If you are small you have to be exceptional. If your do not start on your varsity team and are not the best player you are probably not exceptional. This does not mean you can't play baseball beyond HS ....

I agree that you should focus on your studies. A strong mind and college degree will get you further in life.

However, if you want to play a little baseball in the interrim you have to keep working hard. Apply the same effort on the Diamond that you should apply to your studies.

Strength and agility training are also a good way to go.

Plus your studies will get you more financial help than athletics will, unless you're a complete stud of an athlete.......

Listen to the advice you've gotten from these guys.

Also, how much work are you putting in outside of practices and games? During games when you're on the bench, what are you doing? Is your head in the game then, or are you spitting seeds and goofing around? Coaches like leaders, even when those leaders aren't the strongest players.

I always ask the hitters what the pitcher is throwing on the first pitch whether it be a 2 seam or 4 seam, does it have any movement? how does his curve break? 12-6? or what? and I look for weaknesses in the pitcher like when he picks if he does something different.
