That is a good glove for your son. I also like the AZR-95 too. Nike Show and Mizuno Prospect series gloves are also good choices. You should be able to find the Akadema gloves for around $65 if you shop competitively. The Nike and Mizuno gloves are in the $40 range.

I have a 11 rawlings and a 11.5 akadema left over from my daughters fastpitch. My 8 year old boy who is on the tall side could not handle either of them.

I bought a 10.5 used rawlings for him until he gets alittle bigger.

That's huge for a 7-8 yo. You're in the high school/adult size with 11.5. My son is 7 and big for his age (4'8", 90 lbs.) and is using a 10.5. I recommend the Easton Z-Flex for that age. $30, no break in needed.

That's a good choice and a good price. Parents will spend enough money on baseball gear over the long haul so there is no point in jumping into it too soon. My son used the Mizuno Prospect 10.5" with the "V" notch hinge from 5 to 8U. After that he used a variety of the Akadema Prodigy gloves. Those gloves are all sculpted for small hands of youth players so it is not quite the same as an adult size Rawlings GG or HOH 11.25/11.5". Either the OZ or AZR95 are good choices if someone wants to spend over $30 on a youth glove.

The Mizuno Prospect was a close second to the Easton Z-Flex when I took him glove shopping. I actually liked the Mizuno because it was a little stiffer, which I tend to equate with higher quality, but he fell in love with the Easton as soon as he tried it on. I think because it reminded him so much of his old glove, it had that nice broken in feeling. Either one would be a good choice but the Easton is a little softer. It's a well-designed glove and was obviously put together with care. If I had to pick two gloves for that age it would be either the Mizuno or the Easton. They're priced right, they're well made, and they're broken in enough to play with right off the shelf. We tried on every glove they had in two different stores and nothing else came close to those two.

Have you guys seen the Rawlings American Heritage? It's $49 (regular price $59) and seems to be all leather, except for a piece on the back of the index finger. Any thoughts on this glove?

Grandpa bought my 6 yr old a TPX Louisville Slugger for his 7th bday in July. He used it for all of fall ball last year and into our first couple LL practices. He does fine with it and it doesn't look to heavy, but after reading a few other posts I took him out and we looked at 10.5's and some others and ended up getting a Wilson A350 11.00. It seems fine, but he still likes his TPX better, he will have a decent glove for when he gets a little older.
