  • striking out to much all of a sudden??

In 70 games last year i struck out only 3 times.. now all of a sudden ive changed up my swing working alot on rotational hitting and ive struck out 6 of my last 9 at bats.. whats wrong? I do have alot more power though.. is it just because im not used to the swing yet that im striking out so often?

Being a bat manufacturer, first thing that comes to my mind is, if your stronger as you say have you considered changing the weight on your bat or legnth?

        Learning curve

There is a learning curve when you go to a rotational swing. Your swing is quicker through the zone so you will have to learn to adjust you swing so that you will be able to let the ball get a little bit deeper than before. It's almost like you have to retrain your eyes again. More reps at live pitching will help you over come this.

Could be a lot of things, might want to post a vid of your swing if possible. Maybe you started overloading when you went rotational like this player and your timing is off??:

          Just a guess...

"rotational" is only a generic term, a brand name, from here. Which rotational approach and compared to what (were you doing before)?

Is this new swing early, late, high, or low?
If early, stride later_ if late, earlier.
Do you stride with every pitch?
            Did you change the stance?
We need details as well as the complaints.

In the Epstein 7 day program the first 3 days usually are learning the new swing, days 4,5,6,and 7 and training the eyes. Most every student is way ahead of the pitch. We use a small wiffle ball machine and have the student the the ball go by completely before the kid swings. After about 50 to 75 swings this way we have them let the ball get to about the plate before swinging until they are fouling off balls to RF every time. Then start working up to hitting balls. It does take a good 500 balls to re-train the eyes.

Best advise is to get in the cages and see a lot of pitches.

I went through the same thing , and I think alot of people do .... started 5-6 years ago , did a ton of drills , actually spent alot of time in the cage , and was estatic with my new swing and new power ....got into game situations and was way too quick, was out of the zone in a hurry , and dribbled alot of balls off the end of the bat for a while .....really started concentrated on taking balls to RF in BP , and did alot of front toss rather than the machine , and in the end it was all worth it ...

Have a friend who has a son playing at an SEC school , was a great high school player ,and first thing they did was change his swing ...they warned him that he take a step or two backwards , before he got better ,and it 's true ....

Yes, almost everyone who develops a quicker more efficient swing is early for awhile IME. It's all good news in the long run though. Just have to reset your timing.
