  • 2B Glove

Hey guys. I am a junior on my HS varsity team. I play mostly OF but some 2B as well. I currently have a Wilson A2000 1786 11.5 inch glove as well as my 12.75 rawlings OF. I was thinking of getting a smaller 11 inch one. Do you think that the benefit, if any will be significant enough to get a new one? Any comments are appreciated.

    Cheers

    11.5 should work.

Well, the "benefits" you refer to are going to be that you're really going to have to learn how to USE your glove more if you get a smaller one. Which means you're going to have to get better with your HAND (not handS) at fielding groundballs and the margin for error on line drives is going to go waaaay down - you're really going to have to learn to catch them perfectly in the web or learn to live with a very sore hand.
But if you can increase your skill level in these areas, then YES, you will reap the maximum "benefits" of a smaller glove....on the other hand, if you don't...you're going to feel the maximum penalty for switching. So basically, if you welcome the challenge, go for it. If not, stick with what you've got.

        I wouldn't buy a glove just to move down a 1/4 or 1/2 inch. 11.5 isn't too large.
