  • Ideas for Kids vs. Parents Practice Game

I have a team of 7-8-9 year olds and for our last practice, we are having a Kids vs. Parents game.

I would like to even it out a bit, so I am going to make the parents switch hit from the opposite side of the plate, and use the soft hands training pads/mitts in the infield instead of their gloves.

Have any of you done this before? What are some other ways to make this fun and exciting?

    Thanks--

Make the parents playing the infield wear their gloves backwards so they can stop the ball but not make a clean play.

We had a parent/player game a couple of years ago and had a great time. We made the parents bat with their non dominate hand and every other inning the parents had to run the bases backwards. It was too funny because some of us are not very coordinated and busted our hinnies.

Have a moms versus players game so an overzealous dad trying to prove he's a stud doesn't hurt some kid with a line drive. The best thing is what we did. We played whiffle ball. And had pizzas delivered to the park.

Make the adults throw with their other hand and hit from the other side of the plate.

One of my players received a black eye caused by a bad hop off a line drive I hit so I agree with you about safety concerns.

Our LL had a whiffle ball league during the late summer or fall one year. Moms, dads, and kids all played on the same teams. We took part of our outfield fencing and moved it in about thirty feet behind the infield so occasionally someone could hit a home run. We pitched to ourselves and almost everyone got to pitch. I think the kids may have hit better than the parents. My tee shirt had "1918" on the back of it instead of my name.
