When putting together your practice programs what types of drills do use in a sequence (over a period of one to several practices) to build from basics to more complete or advanced skills.
Here is a sequence I am currently working on for infield fielding. Each drill has a coach rolling or hitting and playing first.
Practice 1.
I. Dead Ball Pick Up and Throw
II. Slow grounder catch and Throw
Practice 2.
I. Review I & II.
II. Hard grounder to forehand catch and Throw
Practice 3.
I. Review Hard grounder to forehand catch and Throw
II. Hard ground to backhand catch and Throw
III. King of the diamond competitive drill
I have practice 3 coming up. So far it seems to be working. This is just part of the practice. I also have them doing game situation fielding and throwing drills later in the practice. Any suggestions on additions or improvements.
