Breaking In A 1st Basemens Mitt

Is it safe to use that stuff where you put the mitt in the oven? I heard it works really good, the only thing is its a 200$ mitt and I dont want to mess it up, but I need it broken in ASAP.

Just play lots of catch. Any "quick fixes" will ultimately degrade the leather and take lots of the length of usable time with that glove away.

If you have access to a pitching machine, just "play catch" with it until it breaks in nice.

Wipe a little bit of Lexol on it to soften it up and play lots of catch.

Amen to that. Stay away from the Hot Glove. It's fine for a quick break in on a cheap glove the kid's going to outgrow in a year, but if you use it on a quality glove you'll regret it.

Also, I feel it makes the glove too loose and floppy. I used it on my Rawlings softball glove (back before I knew better) and I haven't been happy with it since.

I'll cast another vote for just playing catch, nothing beats the old fashioned way. I've heard good things about Lexol as well.
