  • Ron Wolforth's "The Combat Pitcher"

Anyone have any experience or knowledge about "The Combat Pitcher" program by Ron Wolforth? The program has a cheesy name, but I've heard good things about Wolforth. I've seen where he uses weighted baseballs in his programs, so that does raise some red flags for me.

i have the original woolforth tapes..THEY ARE PROVEN to work by taking before and after stats.YES weighted balls, tubing and medicine balls are involved.I firmly believe this can help a DEDICATED OLDER player. It uses a "BACKTRAINING"???? method which was a popular method or technique used by russian olympic athletes...

I've got the version for 8-12 yr old players. I highly recommend it.

I do not have the updated Combat Pitcher, but do have the Athletic Pitcher. I have implemented that into the stuff I do with the infielders and catchers I work with. Have seen quicker arm action, better carry, and better velocities in the two years we have work with it.

I also us several other things to train infielders and catchers, so I can't say the results are solely based on Wolforth's stuff, but is certainly has worked well hand-in-hand with the other stuff we do.

Ron's place is about a half mile from my home. Ron continually updates his material, so the old combat pitcher program is not the new program. He continually improves his program, both video and personal instruction. I do have his old program, but I drive by now and again and I see the boys doing new things.

My son has worked with Ron and it was time and money well spent. I just don't have the time to do our team practices and work with him. You will see pro players, college, HS, and youth players all doing the same things, or variations of them, just with more or less resitance as is appropriate.

Everything is dynamic as opposed to static. It is a kick to watch those boys push the tractor up the hill, and pulling tires around the facility.
