  • new glove?

Im a 2nd baseman on my highschool team. Ive already decided on a Rawlings Pro Preferred 11.25 inch glove, but i'm looking into different types of webs. Any suggestions on what types of webs work better for ground balls out in the field?

I am a middle infielder on my high school team two and i have an A200 with the "H" web, and I love it. But Rawlings calls theirs the "I" web, thats what I would recommend.

I personally love the H-Web from rawlings:

        Or the Single Post web:

          Web

I play 3rd and short on my 2 teams, and i use an A2000 with an I web and a Rawlings Primo with a Modified-Trap-Eze web. I love both of them.

I know Biggio always preferred a "one-piece web" but those are mainly found on 11" gloves. A lot of 2Bman, nowadays, seem to be going to the "single-post web". The "I-web" is nice, but I always felt like I "lost" the ball in it (I'm an H-web guy, too), but many people like it.

Does the I-web stay tight or does it get loose over the course of the season?

Like with any glove, it will loosen. Now, some players prefer it to be loose and "netty" others prefer to keep it tight so the ball stays "shallow" in the glove. I always felt the ball got "deep" in it either way - but that's just me.

For some reason they seem to be "dieing out", but I'm not sure why, it's a nice design, I've always liked it. I know Edgar Renteria still uses one (11.5").

Well its very flexible and strong. It aslo makes it easier to squeeze and scoop balls in the infield. I can't really think of any cons though.

I've got two modified trap gloves, 11.5 and 11.75, from Akadema. Love both of them... until I got the modified T-web AFL-10 Funnel. By far the best glove I ever owned.
