StraightGrain....... do your remember that pm you sent me when I told you I got the lau jr book. You showed me a side by side clip of manny and franceour? I think that this is on the same lines.

Also, sorry everyone for the poor grammar, it should be "What are the differences between these hitters?"

The bottom group is more likely to help your fantasy team......

But seriously, they are quicker to the ball. Not straighter, but quicker. IIRC, the bat path of the top group is what Mankin advocates. The bottom group has a more "direct" path to the ball.

I agree...I'm just going to word it slightly diffently (will probably get some "sparks" going with it, though )...
The top group has a more "swinging up on the ball" approach.
The bottom goup has a more "down to, and thru, the ball" approach.

I hear ya. I was struggling to come up with the proper description that wouldn't get everybody's panties in a bunch.

Why not? Isn't that part of the fun?

Possibly the most perfect swing in baseball right now.

                    See ball, hit ball.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. They look so different.

What is the context of each swing?

They may look different because you are comparing apples and oranges. Pujols' good swings look very different than his bad swings.

To detect actual differences in people's swings, you have to compare good swings where the batter wasn't fooled and didn't get lucky.

Fields is taking an "upward" approach.
Braun is taking a "downward" approach.

These clips are reactions to off speeds and fast balls also.
