    ....what wood will most likely replace it?

    My vote would be none of those type of wood. They are all closed grain species just like Maple so they will inherently have the same problem.

        Yes, just curious.

        With the ash beetle destroying trees by the millions, and if maple is banned, what wood would the bat companies have to turn to.

              Bamboo has to be pressed together so it does not work under MLB rules.
              A bat must be 1 solid piece of wood.

              I think bamboo is allowed in Minor Leagues.

                yes at minors but a composite cannnot be used in the pros. Beech does not explode like maple, i vote beech
