              • Played his last game last night. Tough night. Gave 2 earned runs but was in trouble in all 3 innings.
Finished his first year with a respectable 2.49 era. 4 saves no losses or wins.

                • Got the official papers yesterday.

Little Sparks received a full scholarship.

Pretty big day around here. It's a long journey from the first post I posted on this thread more than a decade ago.

                    • Yea jake it's been a long journey. A friend asked me the other day what makes baseball so special?

I thought and remembered. Little Sparks senior year he pitched against our crosstown rivals. Didn't make it out of the second inning. They were literally hitting every pitch he threw.

His next game was against the state champions and they were stacked. He threw his first no hitter and stuck out 13.

                      That's baseball.

                      • Take the 74 pages and write a book. Then make a movie. Good luck.

                          • Did Lil Sparks coach set him up with a collegiate summer league team? It's where the best exposure for post JuCo will come from. If he's in a good enough summer league he could be playing with D1 players.

                            • Coach flat out said no one play any summer ball and if he finds out you did you are off the team.

I don't agree with it but he's the coach.

                              • Wow! Most college programs arrange where their players will play in summer ball. The new incoming coach was ticked at my son he sacrificed playing in the best possible league so he could also do a summer internship relating to his major and professional future.

Sometimes starting pitchers are told to take the summer off or given a max pitch count for the summer. But I've never heard of a coach telling a team not to play and get better. I don't know of any college teammate's or former travel teammate's of my sons who didn't play in a collegiate summer league. It's also exposure to pro scouts or four year college coaches for JuCo players. It appears he wants complete control of their futures.
