  • Custom wooden bats?

    Hey all, first post here.

I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with getting a wooden bat custom made. I'm looking for a 34" bat, 31 oz. natural color, no paint (logo, etc), and no finish. Anyone know where I can find one of these and what the price would be? I've searched online and emailed a few places, but they are goin' on a week without getting back to me.

On a side note, I have some cheapo Rawlings bat (cost me about $20 I believe)... could I just sand off the paint/finish on that?

    Thanks guys.

    Welcome to the fever!

I suggest trying this site: baseballexpress.com They should probably have something along those lines. I have a custom wood bat from cooperstown but I don't use it, just for show.

        Welcome aboard, aepoc

So you're interested in an unfinished custom bat, and you didn't hear back from the companies you contacted? Guess they don't really want your business, or don't ship anything without their logo burned into the bat. You might try the Barnstable Bat Co. They are a small Cape Cod based outfit that are certified to produce custom bats for MLB players, including Trot Nixon. You can virtual tour their site at

I found a great domain name for sale on Dan.com. Check it out!

they also have a phone number listed, and a shopping site

Barnstable Bat makes and supplies bats to all levels of baseball. Colleges, MSLB, high schools, along with youth and adult teams to name a few.

when I visited, they were having an end of the year ash bat sale,($45-$55 plus s&h) and indicated they would send unfinished bats per your request, but they strongly encourage eventually putting a couple coats of high quality finish, to keep the moisture out, and prolong the life of the wood. I'm still looking for the website of a northern Indiana Co. I did business with years ago; hope they haven't folded. If I come across it I'll let you know.

Just for the record www.tuffbats.com sells unfinished bats too but I do not know if they stamp them with logo or not.

HiddenGem that is a nice link and cheap too, is that where you buy your bats?? Are they good wood? Is tuffbats just a bunch of hype?
