  • lack of power

i have noticed recently that i have no power what so ever in my swing, at least thats what the stats are telling me. my high school team has played 14 games and i have only singles to show for it. i am hitting about .400 but have yet to hit a ball very deep. any suggestions i dont have ne technology to tape my swing slow it down and show it sorry.

    Are you arm swinging?

It could be you're not using your lower body efficiently and you're just swinging with your arms. If so, take a heavy stride into the ball and while you're swinging the bat spin on to your right heel, (assuming you're a right handed hitter.)

You need to give these guys more info.

So you've played 14 games and only singles?

Where do you like the ball?

        Where are you hitting ball?

Are you hitting only ground balls, and where are these groudn balls going?

Are you getting any backspin off the bat?

Is your swing too short and quick? Fine line, but it's possible. How are you being worked, what is your approach? You need to give more info to get info.

If you are a fast defensive whiz, singles might not be the worst thing in the world. Eckstein is in the majors.

i have been hitting mostly ground balls primarily to the left side of the infield. i like the ball middle in and i dont think i am swing to short...if anything i might be too long some times. i dont know if i am getting any backspin, what does matter? my approach is to try and hit fastballs and to hit them where they are pitched. hope this helps, let me know if you need more.

              HUMMMMM

Could that be a top hand dominant, spinning pattern with slow bat tip speed and pull field preference that fails to release the bat head from poor loading action?

Or maybe he needs to move the middle even harder...might sneak a few inside the bag at 3B.

Hiding the hands is NOT an absolute? right..

              upper body MECHANISM PROBLEM?

I wouldn't worry about it, Ive been the same way latly with no power, but if your batting .400, who cares? last year i batted .750 in Babe Ruth but only 3 were extra base hits.Look at guys like ichiro who are very sucessful even though they "lack" power.

Are you staying closed? I used to open up early and would often hit weak ground balls. Just a thought.

Take a look at Arod, Sheffield, Pujols on an inside pitch. Their shoulders have minimum tilt, and when they get into a ball, it has backspin and carries because they're staying flat through the ball. It's a fine line, and it might just be something some have a knack for. Not sure if that can be taught or not. Also, you might be bringing your hands out and around to try and pull the ball, instead of keeping them closer to your body, with the knob pointed toward the pitcher and creating torque.

What about hip slide; what's your stride like? Long? You should try to get a clip up somehow, so these guys can break you down.
