  • Pre-Game Infield Outfield

At the ABCA Convention in Anaheim I heard University of South Carolina Associate Head Coach Chad Holbrook tell everyone that they don't take infield-outfield prior to games and then read an article where Head Coach Ray Tanner confirmed that saying that they didn't need to do that.

Does anyone know what they do instead of pre-game infield/outfield? I'd be curious. They're obviously doing something right to win ball games. haha. (2010 and 2011 National Champs)

My guess is they have another routine during that 15 minutes. I can't imagine that they just sit around for 15 minutes.

I don't have the answer you seek... But I can understand this when you are at home, but I cannot understand this at an away field... Backgrounds, grass, bumps, sun orientation, lighting, etc., etc., are all different why would you want to address this during a game???

A lot of that can be taken care of during the 45 minutes of batting practice before In/Out takes place in my opinion. This coming from a college short-stop.

Agree. I would assume they're getting some reps during BP.
