Back foot pivot? To allow the hips to pop open. I like to pivot the foot and pop the hips simultaneously. In this drill he pivots first and it's common to see it done this way. I believe it's done in this order to promote a bottom-up motion, feet/hips/shoulders. Realistically, the foot and hips will work together. The real key to emphasize in this drill is the delayed shoulder rotation. That's the main goal of this drill.

If you want to be bigoted, at least get your countries straight.

This drill is a variation of the wall drill, a pretty standard variation. Drill serves a couple of functions. Rock and lean with hip only rotation - emphasizes closed shoulders to work maximum hip shoulder separation at foot plant. Then you rotate the shoulders and lean to release point. This works upper body position at release. Wall prevents the torso from slumping over. Like the superman drill with a wall to reinforce chest to target.

Can anyone elaborate on what is happening in this video? Title is called wall drill. Is it throwing or pitching? Towards the end, is he rotating through his grips?
