  • 8yo son BP... need some input for him..besides Dad's...

I just wanted to get some input on my sons swing... this was his first time this spring taking live BP outside, we've worked on a lot of stuff over the winter; and I see some good things here... but also some things that still need work.
But I really wanted to get some additional input...

    Thanks in advance...

Nice to see him making good contact there.

One obvious thing I see, more in the 2nd video, is that he isn't taking much of a stride. Try having him hit off a T and working on shifting his weight back and then striding toward the pitcher as he begins his swing. Doesn't need to be a big stride, but I think a more pronounced shift from back to front would give him a lot more punch.

I would keep things simple at that age, don't get too wound up about all the little mechanical things.

Thank you for the feedback... I saw the same thing; also saw that he is stopping his swing at contact, we went over a few things; but haven't had a chance to hit off the tee yet... he had his first game this past Tuesday...walked twice..didn't really have anything good to swing at.. Tonight is game two... well see.
      Thanks again...

Had a little setback last night... My son was drilled in the back by his left shoulder blade, nothing bad....just part of the game. He took it pretty good, came out of the game since it was the bottom of the last inning. He has another game Monday so we will see if there are any effects on him after this.
