Can you take anything away or give any advice on the attached 2 pictures. He's 13 years old with ok speed on his pitches. Only off speed he throws is a changeup that is very effective if he completes his motion and doesnt try to slow down the arm to change the speed.

I can tell he wears Nike cleats. I can tell he uses a Rawlings glove. I can tell his sleeves don't match the blue in his uniform. I can guess it's a CYO team since the name starts with Saint.

He wears too much eye black and is trying to mimick Roy Halladay.
      See ball, hit ball.

My itty bitty laptop monitor limited my ability to see the whole pics...

From what I can see, it looks solid. Nice balance, good stride length, chest facing home.

At 13 there's only 2 pitches he needs to throw, in my opinion. Fastball and a simple change of grip to a change-up with the same motion.

Could be his Middle School Team and not CYO. My Son's school Name starts with a Saint! lol

Kids started doing the eye black like that after they saw Bryce Harper doing it. I think it'll die out soon (Harper doesn't even do it anymore). Every time I look at the sports section and I see a high school kid threw a no-hitter and then his picture shows him wearing his eye black like that (and often much worse) I can't help but think he's going to regret looking like that when he's showing that newspaper clipping to his grandkids.

I definitely see some Roy Halladay influence in that windup, with the way he bends his torso and holds his glove out. His stride looks pretty good for a 13-year-old. The first baseman could probably get off the bag a little quicker.

Thanks everyone...I'm sorry about the size of the pictures. They were sent to me by one of the boys mothers.

Jcincy...he throws a fastball and change only. Still learning how to pitch. At 60 feet and 13 years old your not blowing it by anybody anymore I have told him.

I read through the posts on here and I love the discussions on hitting

                Wow. That mound is terrible.

If he can pitch with accuracy while landing in that sand pit he is doing very well.

Personally I would tell him not to scrunch his upper and lower body before delivery since it's wasted motion, IMO.

                The delivery looks fantastic.

I like the eye black he could use more though.

to add to the smartassery, he could pull his hat down to block the sun...that's what it was designed for.

At thirteen all that matters is developing pitching form and developing enough command/control to throw to the four quadrants of the strike zone. Velocity will come with physical development. Two pitches of differing speed are fine. Many stud high school pitchers only have two pitches.
