Catchers Gear

I would appreciate any feedback on the following catchers gear from Rawlings:

My son will be moving into the kid-pitch, 9 yo division in the Fall. We went to local sporting goods store to try on some gear, but they didn't have any youth sizes.

I don't have that exact set, but I bought some Rawlings catcher's gear for my kids, it's quality stuff.

At that age I bought my son Mizzuno, chest. samuari shins they were the best fit for him being on the small size, an Easton mask.
He continues to use Mizzuno gear except for the mask, went with All Star big change in helmet tech in the last few years. Please buy him a throat protector, he will get hit at some point and you'll be glad he had it. My 12u went to block a ball last game and ball deflected off the throat guard and grazed his neck.

That's the only helmet my son will wear. The rest of the gear is good to. Cain't beat the price. Easton fit my son better.
Get him a good glove. I'd recommend Akadema. My son got thumbed on a foul tip at 9 bothered him till he stopped for winter. Was using Rawlings glove well broken in and loose at time. Switched to Akadema after I read about their thumb protection.

Dura, what Akadema model did you get your son. My son has got to move up in size next year, been looking at them.

Bought this for my son when he was 6, it was the only thing he wanted for him birthday. He just turned 9 and is playing/catching for a select team and still uses the shin guards and the helmet. We found that chest protector didn’t work very well once he got into kid pitch, so we went with the Easton Natural Chest protector; but other than that the Rawlings gear is great for the price.

We used that from 9 till 12U. Had to get one new chest protector. out grew first one
