I mean how good is this kid? 20 years old and doing what he's doing. Cool last name. Cool jersey number. I'm surprised we're not talking about him here. I'd love to be able to take a closer look at his swing. I know one thing. I love the bend and tilt. This kid destroys anything middle-in and makes all sorts of pitches look fatter than they are.

Can someone post some frame by frame on Mike Trout?

Trout was viewed, almost universally, as being the #1 prospect in all of baseball ... and perhaps the best prospect in the last 10 years (including Jay Bruce) ... then Bryce Harper happened.

Just watched a comparison of Trout to Rickey Henderson on ESPN. Through 60 games Henderson looks to have arguably the best rookie stats of all time.....and Trout's numbers are virtually identical. I know Harper is more the rock star, but comparing Trout to him right now is like comparing a Viper to a Neon. There are two kinds of losers.....Those that don't do what they are told, and those that do only what they are told.

Trout through 60 games this year (he played 40g last year): .343/.399/.551/.950 (BA/OBP/SLG/OPS)
If you count all 100 games of his career: .302/.360/.497/.858
Is it the best ever?
Well I thought of two guys to look up (and didn't dig further).
T. Williams (age 20, 1939): .294/.378/.557/.935
A. Pujols (Age 21): .351/.389/.707/1.096
2001
1st Half: .323/.391/.594/.985
2nd Half: .336/.416/.628/1.045
Total: .329/.403/.610/1.013
If there was a rookie that had a better "1st 60 games" than Albert, I'd like to see it. The 2012 first 60 games also aren;t Trouts "1st 60 games".
Edit: 1st Games of Ryan Braun: .347/.386/.660/1.046
Of course being compared to Albert Pujols (and Braun) is a compliment in itself.

As far as Trout frame-by-frame clips. There are LOTS of Trout clips on youtube. I'd start there. If you don;t find a frame-by-frame one, you can download a free video editor program and watch it frame-by-frame there.Last edited by CircleChange11; 07-05-2012, 09:16 PM.

Not if you compare what they did in MLB as 19yo. Trout is still a full year ahead of Harper.

very ugly self made sequence (I don't know anything about computers and thus can't extract frames.
maybe gif god noontime will help us to get a better one
3 run bomb hooked to LF:
I now have my own non commercial blog about training for batspeed and power using my training experience in baseball and track and field.

Rickey always refers to Rickey as Rickey.
He's, by far, my favorite player of all-time, which makes no sense as a left-handed pitcher.
He really is a unique guy. For all of the eccentric stuff, he seems to be one heckuva nice guy.

MLB.com just put up an awesome clip of trout's homer tonight. It has a great slow-mo clip from the first base side that you can take a look at.
Also, anyone have any ideas as to why trout's follow through/finish of his swing seems so short? any benefits from that? I know a finish with two hands on the bat makes your follow through shorter, but his finish is even shorter than most.
