  • Knee protection and sliding

Looking for suggestions on what others do for undergarments, extra layers sewn in, etc. on baseball pants. You know how it works. You slide, the pants are fine, but underneath the pants the kid's skin tore a bit and he's bleeding. Any minimally invasive products for that?

My son has worn Missuno pants for years, they have good padding in the knee and rear area. They hold up very well.
Edit to add. He also where's compression shorts with some additional padding, I think they are Under Armor.

football compression undergarments with integrated padding... I think rawlings makes one with knee pads. Most football compression shorts have the thigh and tail bone padding but knee pads go into the football pants worn on top of the shorts... or you could just buy the 5 o5 7 piece integrated pants.

the new models are very light and don't feel bulky at all.

There are sliding pants with padding. My daughter wore them. My son went head first as soon as he was done with LL. He wore loose fitting Ace bandages to protect his knees.

The ace bandages is what has me curious. Before I posted this thread I've thought of lightweight, compression knee supports, but I wonder if that would bug him as a catcher.??

Victory pants. My older son abused a pair for a year playing high school at SS where he played 120% on every ball even during practice. Mizuno pants lasted 2 weeks at most. The Victory pants were handed down to my younger son who finally put a hole in them after 2 seasons. They are still usable and Victory will repair them for free, but my son outgrew those pants.

I wear sliding knee pads myself. My knees thanked me!

I have the Nike DriFit sliding pads. I have used these over 10 years and wear them under everything (pants, shorts). They are a must if you are a middle infielder. I tend to slide on my knees to grab and throw the ball. Sliding on hard dirt no longer is an issue!!!

I firmly believe they must be separate from your baseball pants. This way they can move with you no matter what you are wearing. Mine shrink and the padding gets messed up in the wash. So wash with care.

I have to replace them soon as they are so torn up. I don't think Nike makes them any more. I believe my best replacement is going to be a volleyball knee pad, but hopefully its a longer/taller pad.

I never play a game without them.
