    That's correct. last year it was about 72% in the MLB. to have a positive expectation you must steal at least 70% or so. however you have to consider that the rate goes down a little if you steal a lot because you not only steal against hand picked catchers/pitchers. so 78% at that clip is good since anyone knows you are stealing and you still do it.

    I agree with TGs point about getting reads but also you have to consider that MLB batteries care more about holding runners while AA batteries will likely more concentrate on working on things.

    He just started playing AA. He hasn't had a chance to study the pitcher's moves. A guy like this will improve his stealing percentage when he's in the majors seeing mostly the same pitchers. He'll be able to study them and create a book on their moves.

    stealing at 78% is very good. Of course it will be a little harder against yadier molina than against A ball batteries though.
