Santa brought my baseball player home. We don't buy equipment anymore. He gets it all free. Actually right now I'm waiting for my basbeall player and my daughter to arrive in Manhattan for our Christmas in NYC. In the afternoon we go out to eat and the movies. After dark we check out the decorations on 5th Ave and go skating at Rock Center. Tomorrow wel'll go to a show.

I was looking at the Swingaway, but have decided to get one of these for the basement.

Just a baseball layman trying to make sense of it all...

Santa brought my ten year-old ball player a new wood bat:

From Little League to the pros, Louisville Slugger M9 maple bats have become a standard among ball players that swing wood. Louisville Slugger uses professional grade, hand-picked maple to turn these bats. The unique grain structure of maple wood prevents the barrel from flaking and contributes to its increased durability. Although many players still prefer ash because of its lightweight feel, the main draw to maple is its hardness. Louisville Slugger's M9 maple bats are kiln dried for optimum moisture content, further increasing their life span. This bat features a 2 ¼ inch barrel in diameter with a cupped end that helps players increase their swing speed by controlling the bat's weight. As a youth player, wood bats can dramatically improve mechanics, so this is a great bat for practice or for games. Many players choose wood to practice with, because it can increase the player's strength, and saves their high dollar metal bat from unnecessary wear and tear. It's effectively a 30/24. I'm pretty impressed he's able to swing it so effectively. It's true what they say, once they learn a sound swing, you'll be surprised how well they can handle a heavier bat. Anyway, he's looking forward to getting stronger with it during the off-season.

My ball player got a custom Wilson A2000 in his choice of colors (Blue and Red), a custom trophy bat from his trip to Italy with U-trip last summer, and we're taking him to Orlando to play in the Stars and Stripes Baseball Winter Nationals today. We ordered and received the glove a couple months ago and allowed him to break it in over the past month so he can use it in Florida this week. I get to watch him play this week. That is the best Christmas gift Santa could possibly bring.

My daughter asked for a Pujols and R.A. Dickey baseball card (we're big on knuckleballers). She got what she wished for, but the Dickey card was a 2005 (the year he decided to go to the KB full time) GEM rated 10. She was happy with it. She was actually thinking she was going to get a new glove too, but I think we've got one more season left in her current one.

My son got a really cool Under Armour baseball pullover (similar to the ones made popular by Majestic). He also got a Metalstorm bat 30/22 and a 30" Marucci wood bat.
"Smith corks it into right, down the line. It may go...........Go crazy folks! Go crazy! Jack Buck

I got my almost 14 YO (almost 5'8") son an adult (yee-gads!) All-Star System 7 catcher's chest protector. His 12-16 aged one fit great except it was getting too short (just above the belly button). The new one cost twice as much (ouch), and is a tad big on him. But since he's been playing catcher primarily for the past 3-4 years and wore two previous ones out, I figured it would be a safe purchase he could grow into.

I also got him a 32" wood bat because the price was right and I was tired of him me asking for one. He hit maybe 25 balls of the tee with it before switching back to his BBCOR. I expect he'll continue to use it as a training device, but not all that much.

I bought a new glove for my son and had his name laser engraved into it. Looks pretty cool...

Bought a Mizuno pro on eBay then had it engraved locally for $25
