    Question..

Draft evaluations Are coming up for my 10 yr old In 3 weeks

He did spring and fallball , fallball ended a little over 2 months ago, Not much play since

Should we start hitting the park 2-3x a week or just let him go to evaluations Fully rested .

They use the 1-5 system, 5 being highest and that's his goal.
    Thank you!

There's nothing wrong with getting a little practice in ahead of time. He may feel pressure to throw as hard as he can. Therefore he should be throwing a couple of weeks ahead of time. You want him to show up mentally rested. Don't make a big deal out of tryouts. He's going to be placed on a team.

He's 10... Take him out back and throw the ball around a little and let him hit a few balls to get the cobwebs outs. At this age what's the difference if he's a 4 or 5?

Also, how good are the coaches doing the evaluations? They are probably just dads that have their own scoring system based on what they are looking for.

I say you should always be out playing catch and swinging a bat. It's just fun.

I don't know of a league where the kids ever see the tryout evaluations. So all your son can do is his best. He'll never know his scores unless you go digging for them.

These are evaluations, not try outs. Don't sweat anything. It's simply so all the coaches can rank the players and do their best at drafting a good team of A, B, and C rated players. If anything, his "under performing" is best for a team as he could end up being rated lower and won't be a "first round" pick. However, if your kid has already been playing for a few seasons, then coaches will know him and it won't matter anyways. I know in our rating system, if a kid was previously an "A", then they stay an "A" the next season.
