  • Baseball Related New Year's Resolutions?

I have thought about my involvment in baseball and especially at the HS level and how much I miss it. I did not attend a HS baseball game last year since I followed my child around playing college softball. Their schedule will enable me to attend some HS games this year and so, that is one of my resolutions. Here are some others for me:
    1. Attend more HS baseball games.
    2. I plan on allowing a few more young men and young ladies into my hitting lessons. Last year I had 5 players that routinely asked for and received lessons. I miss coaching and so, if I plan it right, I should be able to take care of more kids. The price has always been right for the parents.
    3. I know a lot of college coaches and so, I have been asked by a couple of young men in my classes if I'll make some contacts for them. I intend to work with the head coach but start trying to promote our HS more to area coaches. One mom fixed me a can of home made fudge for helping get her son into an area D-II. Unfortunately, it was good I was was bad.
    4. I have an old buddy that owns hitting cages and a decent facility. Every year, I plan on going over there to check it out. I might do that and see what it would cost to set up lessons from there. I don't like charging students and haven't in years. However, I am getting close to retirement and so, I need to think about this and get something set up for retirement. Of course he might say no.

These are a few "New Year's Resolutions" I intend to make with regards to baseball. How about you?
RIP Joe Lindley (Jake Patterson) Oct. 25, 2019, Scott Sarginson (SSarge) Nov. 17, 2016, Donny Buster (Swingbuster) June 1st 2007. Zachary "Doug" Reddell (Bluedog) December 22, 2022. Greatly missed by so many!

My son, who is now in 8th grade, has started to sprout....as they say. He does pitch and I found out late last summer that things are getting a little dicey behind the plate for me.

My "New Years Resolution" is to make an appointment to see if I can get laser eye surgery. The ball just gets to me too fast now.

If only there were a surgery out there that gave me the same reflexes I had 20 years ago I could combine that with laser surgery and I'd be good to go. My New Years resolution will be not to get killed when catching my son or the other kids on the team. Or maybe I can just designate one of my assistants to do the catching.

Baseball was, is and always will be to me the best game in the world.

Get new floor mats for my wife's car that contain the mud better.
There are two kinds of losers.....Those that don't do what they are told, and those that do only what they are told.

My son caught through age twelve. Between catching and base running he was so filthy after games I made him strip to his shorts before getting in the car. It was the same way in tournament ball when there were three games in a day.
