Have any of you heard of this CD set? A brief description of it: a deluxe 4-CD set that contains over 117 audio tracks, plus a 60-page full color book of the game's history. It's the ultimate baseball collection, highlighting the game's biggest names and most monumental moments. And - get this - it's packaged in a padded, textured box that resembles an authentic baseball base. Everything from John Fogerty's "Centerfield" to Abbott & Costello's classic skit "Who's On First" is included, plus broadcasts of historic plays, calls and more.
It comes out on October 18th and I will most likely be picking this up, assuming I can find it.

i got one of these as a birthday present three weeks ago.
very decent.

the packaging is especially rad. the box is cushioned on the sides and top, and appears dirty and stepped-on, as real-life bases do. once i removed the discs and spiral accompanying program there was this cool-looking box -- there is so much wasted space even with the items inside -- and so i put some smaller baseball items inside, like some water transfers ("tatoos") from the early 60s, a few auravision disks and dozens of non-giants ticket stubs.

hours of fun with the music, calls of the announcers, and the players describing various aspects of the game.

mickey mantle is featured in "i love mickey".
the words "i love mickey" are followed by the mick asking "mickey who?" hilarious.

d-o-d-g-e-r-s is about a baseball game between dem bums and me giants. what an ending to the song's game. h

Mine arrived yesterday. The packaging is great. I've only listened to the first CD, which consists of baseball songs. I will try to listen to the rest this week.

I received my own set today and can't wait to listen! For years I've wanted to hear DeWolf Hopper reciting "Casey at the Bat", and now I can!

I have not yet had a chance to listen to any of the CDs, but will be sure to listen to some this weekend., and will give reviews.

It's a nice collection, but at least one of the soundbite tracks is incorrect... disc 2 track 12, "The Amazin’ New York Mets win the 1969 World Series," is actually Bob Murphy's call of the Mets winning the 1969 NL Eastern Division title. The track's sound quality is excellent, however.

this is an excellent boxed set, and I've had it about a year now. I loved the interviews and soundbites with the players of days gone by, esp. O'Malley, Stengel, Gehrig's speech.

The scorebook-style scrapbook is a treasure in itself. Incredible quotes (including Foghorn Leghorn), anecdotes (Red Smith quoting Connie Mack on the Athletics trying to find a hotel-any hotel-in the south) great snapshots and slice of the game snippets: Slang & Such glossary, on and on.

Always loved Who's On First?


It is indeed a great gift idea and very reasonably priced, imo.
