  • A must-read for Yankee fans...

Richard Bradley's 'The Greatest Game: The Yankees, the Red Sox and the Playoff of '78' has finally been published. I pre-ordered my copy from Amazon months ago, and it finally arrived in the post yesterday - it's absolutely brilliant, and I'm devouring it. I don't work for Amazon or the publisher, but anyone interested in Yankee history ought to get their hands on this one!
As an old fogeys who can still remember watching that game on the edge of his seat (and blowing off seventh period French and tearing home on my ten-speed so as to not miss a pitch), this is a great trip down memory lane... just the thing to put me in the mood for the 2008 campaign :->

Thanks for the heads up, I will have to look in to that!

If you're familiar with both, how does it compare to David Halberstram's Summer of 49? And would a Red Sox fan enjoy it, or anyone who remembers that season in general?

Thanks for the tip. I look forward to reading it. It is hard to believe it has been 30 years since that game.
