  • Hal Chase book help.

I was hoping someone here could help me out and recommend a Hal cahse book. I know of two on Amazon:

The Black Prince of Baseball: Hal Chase and the Mythology of the Game by Don Dewey and
Hal Chase: The Defiant Life and Turbulent Times of Baseball's Biggest Crook by Martin Kohout

The reviews on amazon for the Kohout book are pretty good but it's more expensive than the Dewey book for which there are no reviews. The Dewey book is also 100 pages longer.

Any advice on either book would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

    Scott

My dad has both but has only read the Dewey book. I'll ask him what he thought.

I've read them both and liked each one. I think the Dewey is shade better than the Kohout book.

Thanks for the input Ed. I'm leaning toward the Dewey book.

I found a good used copy of the Dewey book on Amazon yesterday and snagged it. Thanks for the recommendations.
I've tried 'em all, I really have, and the only church that truly feeds the soul, day in, day out, is the Church of Baseball.
