61*, The Natural, Eight Men Out and Bull Durham are all high on my list. Of the ones in the poll, I liked The Sandlot best. That's just about any kid's baseball story, minus the blind neighbor/friend of the Babe angle.

Sandlot 2 belongs with Caddyshack 2 and Airplane 2 as contenders for worst sequel. Did they have to recreate the dog chase?

Voted for League of Their Own, but would have voted for 61* if it was an option. I prefer movies based on historical fact. Eight Men Out and Cobb are two more of my favorites.

Bang the drum slowly & fear strikes out were pretty good as well, but
              Bull Durham is my favorite.:twocents:

Well, you are a mod on Pigskin. Here you came to the party after the logical spots for you were filled. I think that's more of a feature of the site template than anything else.

Good to see you back, though.

                  Favorite Baseball Movie

I know you can't put all the movies on the list, so here it goes,

                  1. The Pride of the Yankees
                  2. The Stratton Story
                  3. Angels in the Outfield - Original
                  4. Eight Men Out
                  5. 61

My favorite Quote: "Dogs have fleas, managers have sportswriters",

                  Angels in the Outfield (1952)

I voted for Bull Durham, still my favorite baseball movie.

I've never seen the original Angels in the Outfield, looking forward to catching it on TCM next week.

They call me Mr. Baseball. Not because of my love for the game; because of all the stitches in my head.

Bull Durham and Sandlot obviously the two most classic baseball movies out there. Bull Durham is a great potrayal of what minor league baseball is really like. And the Sandlot..."You're KILLING me, Smalls!" That is the first movie my child will watch.

Fever Pitch is accidentally an amazing movie. The movie was written so that the Red Sox would lose at the end of the season, but had to do a last-minute change after the ALCS (Remember down 0-3 with Rivera on the hill...?). History was in the making and the film crew shooting throughout the 2004 season didn't even know what was happening. Great movie.

PS Pride Of the Yankees - AMAZING movie. Every baseball fan better have watched this movie. And that's coming from a Sox fan.

It's not on the list? but "The Natural" is my favorite. Eight Men Out, Bang the Drum Slowly and Field of Dreams are up there too.

Out of that bunch, I like Mr. 3,000.

                            Where was Mr. Baseball?
