I wish this was an option for all games.

    hmmm...weird.
I just wish FSN-West would have "technical difficulties" like this whenever Rex Hudler was scheduled to announce. :crossfingers:
That guy makes as much sense as a bag of lips.

If anyone is conducting an experiment, they should do an honest experiment and let the public know about it. Viewers who are more likely to support/or criticize will give such feedback.

IMO, the best experiment is to broadcast a game with minimal announcing. Let the viewers know the names of the lineups at the start of the game, pinch-hitters and relievers, and to say things like "Scrolling across your screen are some game scores of games elsewhere in MLB". Announcers then shut up.:lightbulb:

That used to happen to me too, but it was only for FOX games. Never figured out why.

With a big enough tv, a broadcast with no announcers would make it more realistic, no?

No, I checked that, and it happened on both TV's. I caught some of the Braves-Rockies game later and there was no problem either. This was likely a glitch, either local or regional.

BTW it's a Westinghouse...on sale at Best Buy a few years ago. Though I wouldn't mind an upgrade to a 42"

In this case, I like it better without.

By the way, are you sure you didn't accidentally press the SAP button on your TV? I don't have a SAP button on my TV, but I've heard that if you press it during a sports event, you will sometimes just get the game sounds, and no announcers.

1.) I watched the game and heard Stockton & Eric Karros.

2.) Nice tv, what brand is that?

The camera is a little shaky since I was eating a burger at the time

Might be a glitch, because I'm watching it, and there are announcers.

Perhaps there shouldn't be announcers because Dick Stockton said that a ball was foul because it hit off the plate. h

No Announcers On Fox MLB Broadcast

There were no announcers for today's Angels-Yankees game on FOX. I didn't see this promoted, so I don't know if it was intended or due to technical difficulties. You could still hear the crowd, the bat hitting the ball etc., but no play by play or analysis. Considering the all commercials had volume, I assume it was intended as an experiment (or Fox was trying to save a few bucks). It was a bit weird.

The only other time I remember anything like this was in 1982 when NBC had a much promoted Jets-Dolphins game with no announcers. Apparently, that "experiment" never caught on. If I remember, that idea didn't get very high marks, nor will this (unless you feel silence is better than Joe Buck, as some probably do).
